<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: times new roman,times;">Feedback I often hear from beginners are comments like, &#8220;I need it to fight the stress and tension. Are there places where someone is teaching meditation for free? I just can&#8217;t understand concept of meditation and relax by myself while watching those meditation videos online or trying other ways by myself&#8221; </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: times new roman,times;">Some people can visualize very well. The best meditation for them is usually to see themselves at a very tranquil place, for example, the beach, the mountains, or a forest.&nbsp;   Some people, on the other hand, are more physically-oriented.&nbsp; They can use meditations like following their breath, or they can focus on different body sensations. These sensations will tend to move, and following them is one form of meditation!&nbsp;</span></span><script type="text/javascript"><!--

<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: times new roman,times;"> Other people are more auditory. They can focus on a mantra, which usually stops the chattering of the mind. Although it is more external, listening to relaxing music or chanting is a valid form of meditation.  You just have to experiment with different types of meditation to find what works for you.&nbsp; I would be cautious of CDs that claim you can &#8220;meditate like a Zen monk&#8221; in 5 minutes. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: times new roman,times;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Meditation&nbsp; takes some practice.&nbsp; In the beginning, the mind is constantly chattering away.&nbsp; However, with practice and by finding the right type of meditation for you, the rewards will be great&#8212;for both your mind and your body.&nbsp; I speak from my own personal experience.&nbsp; </span><br /></span></span></p>

<p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; font-style: normal; font-family: Arial; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none;">When  it comes to meditation techniques for beginners, one of most important aspects  to developing a beneficial meditation practice is posture. &nbsp;There are many  different postures we can use when meditating, and each posture has their own  mental affects. &nbsp;The most common general postures (each with their own  respective variations) are walking, standing, sitting, or lying  down.</span><br /><span style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; font-style: normal; font-family: Arial; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none;">&nbsp;</span><br /><span style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; font-style: normal; font-family: Arial; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none;">Despite  what you may hear, there is no posture that is necessarily better than the next.  The main thing to keep in mind is to put yourself in a position where you can  breathe completely and freely. &nbsp;Being comfortable is also important, however you  don&rsquo;t want to get </span><span style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; font-style: italic; font-family: Arial; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none;">too </span><span style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; font-style: normal; font-family: Arial; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none;">comfortable,  which is one of the reasons why I&rsquo;m personally not a big fan of meditating while  lying down. &nbsp;You want to be in a posture that gives you perfect balance between  being relaxation and alertness.</span><br /><span style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; font-style: normal; font-family: Arial; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none;">&nbsp;</span><br /><span style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 11pt; vertical-align: baseline; font-style: normal; font-family: Arial; background-color: transparent; text-decoration: none;">I  encourage you to try out different postures until you find what works best for  YOU. &nbsp;We are all different, and different positions and postures affect  different people in different ways. </span></span></p>
